Vintage Leaping Horse + "20" Charms Necklace

When I was a kid, we would always read this book called The Black Horse at our cabin in Vermont. The book depicted a life and death journey through nature's most extreme elements of ice and fire with the goal of rescuing a captured princess from an evil sea dweller.

Having always identified as a "horse girl" (think of that girl in your 1st grade class who would always draw and talk about horses), the horse was of course my favorite part.

Pictured above is an antique Art Deco leaping horse charm, displaying all the glory of the original black stallion except in 9k gold and with a coat of spattered diamonds. The vintage 14k "20" charm may have represented a birthday or anniversary in its prior life but I like to think of it as a talisman for 2020.

I purchased the two charms together from Ingram Cecil Jewelry at the end of 2019 with the idea that together they would form a lucky 2020 necklace.

Turns out we all needed a leaping horse charm necklace for the life and death journey that was 2020 🔥😂❄.
