Summer Nostalgia
Speaking of nostalgia, one of my favorite artists is Betsy Enzensberger who makes melting popsicle sculptures out of a rainbow of colored resin.
Attending the Affordable Art Fair in NYC is an annual tradition for me and my Mom (not including years where there was a global pandemic). Discovering the display wall of Betsy's playful popsicles made me want a wall of my own so I now own a few pops. By few, I mean 9.
Growing up in NYC meant summer nights consisted of going to the hippo park and getting a popsicle, which typically melted all over your hands and stained your lips as the sun went down. Seeing these popsicles live on everyday surfaces provides a welcome "pop" of whimsy and summer nostalgia.
