Grade-school Cool
When I was in 8th grade, a palm reader told me that I was going to get married young to a politician (spoiler alert: things didn't turn out that way). I still think about how funny it is that a preppy, co-ed NYC private school decided to have a palm reader at an 8th grade dance and the person came up with that response completely unprovoked by a question.
Since the dance was fairly "uncool", as they usually were, I remember calling it a night and running smack into an ex-AIM bf with two girls from a rival all girls school on his arms. I was clearly the loser in that situation. Ahhh I did love those days of AOL.
These Brazilian wish bracelets always make me think of the friendship bracelets we had in school. Although tying these to your arm in a bid for luck and to ward off negativity could last way more than a few years (they never fall off).
