To Be Saved

Anyone who's familiar with the vintage and antique trade knows there is a fine line between life and death for these second hand items. For jewelry, the final destination can mean being melted down for the metals and stones with the original design and history erased.

In 2011, this understated silver tiger ring, adorned with marcasite and mysterious red eyes, found me right on its cusp of being melted. To be a lover of vintage and antiques, you are likely someone that personifies these objects, tells their stories, and in some cases saves them from historical elimination entirely.

I like to wear this tiger ring on my right pointer finger and when I see it I'm reminded that stories matter, journeys matter, imperfections matter, and ultimately we all want to be saved.

Time period: unknown.
